Your Story: How Did You Get into Music? What Inspired You?

“I’ll share a video that really captures the start of my journey,” Marlyn says. Growing up in a Christian home, Marlyn’s life was filled with the powerful, soulful atmosphere of worship music. Her earliest memories are steeped in the sounds of her mother singing on the praise team, often leading worship songs with heartfelt joy. “I’d sit there, eyes wide, feeling like I was witnessing something magical,” she remembers.

This environment planted a deep seed in her, sparking a love for music and a desire to sing with that same passion. “The shows I watched growing up made me think, ‘Why not me?’ " she reflects. 

Her family, too, played a pivotal role, nurturing her talent and cheering her on from the very beginning. For Marlyn, their belief was a guiding light, one that turned her dreams into something real and within reach. “They gave me the courage to believe that my dreams weren’t just fantasies—they could be my life,”  Marlyn says with gratitude.

Your Style: How Would You Describe Your Music Style and Main Influences?

Marlyn’s music is a unique blend of genres, driven by her love for freedom in creativity. “I never wanted to fit neatly into one genre or box,” she states. For her, music is about self-expression without boundaries.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of sounds and styles, Marlyn’s artistry flows wherever her instincts take her. “I create what feels true to me in that moment, embracing the world of sound and emotion to connect with others in a genuine way.” Marlyn style reflects a fearless approach to music, embracing versatility and authenticity with each song.

Career Highlights: Any Performances, Collaborations, or Projects You’re Especially Proud Of?

Marlyn’s career is filled with powerful moments that she cherishes. One of her proudest accomplishments was reaching a point where she could support herself through her music. “It was a life goal that represented so much to me,” she shares. Another highlight was the creation of her debut album, a project born from both passion and resilience. At the time, Marlyn was battling multiple sclerosis (MS), going through one of the toughest chapters of her life.

“I wrote every song, crafted each instrumental, recorded and produced everything myself,” she reveals. This album became more than just music—it was a symbol of strength and resilience. And then, there was her unforgettable performance of her song “B E L I Z E” at the 2023 Belize Song Competition, where she took home first place. 

That night was nothing short of extraordinary. “Imagine not even being able to walk, and having 90 seizures a day,” Marlyn reflects. For an entire year and a half prior, Marlyn was still unwell and facing challenges. Remarkably, she managed to pull through right in time  before her performance on stage. But on that stage, she was dancing, singing, and giving one of the best performances of her life. “It reminded me of why I chose this path. It’s a blessing I’ll carry with me always.”

What’s Next: Any New Music, Videos, or Events Coming Up?

“Well….. lol, I haven’t told anyone yet, kinda a surprise .” Marlyn announces with excitement. This release is more than just new music; it’s a victory over the challenges she’s faced with MS this year. “There were times I feared I wouldn’t even be able to create anything this year. But here we are, and I am so grateful.” 

For Marlyn, every note and lyric is a celebration of life, hope, and the power of never giving up. And as she prepares to share this new chapter with her fans, it’s clear that she’s only just getting started. “No matter what life throws at us, there’s always room for hope,” she emphasizes.
